Why is MetroLeases.com better than other services?

MetroLeases.com has EXCLUSIVE apartments, sublets & rooms advertised by:

How do I contact the owners?

To obtain the email addresses and phone numbers of our owners and lease holders you will need to register and pay the fee. The fee ranges per area from $4.95 to $125.00. Accounts are activated immediately after registration. Remember, you are able to browse all listing details for free before registering.

How long is my account good for?

Accounts are valid for 60 days from the date of registration.  There are no accounts for less than 60 days. Membership has been designed for everyone to find housing.

How often are the listings updated?

Listings with photos have a much higher success rate.

Every day, we communicate with our owners, who return to the site to Update or Delete their listings. Our database is never 100% available; since rentals are turning over all the time. However, statistically over the past 5 years our list has been approximately 85% available. Furthermore, we receive more than 200 new listings every day.  If you use our service diligently, you will have great success.

What if I find a Broker on the list?
 

We do not permit real estate agents to post with our service.  While our screening process for advertisements eliminates 99% of agent listings, occasionally, an agent will evade our editors. Such an agent is violating the law and will be prosecuted. 

If you find a real estate agent in our database, please contact us immediately at 877-FOR-RENT or send an email to support@MetroLeases.com with the agents contact information and they will be removed immediately.

How can I access additional areas?

Access to contact information is restricted to the area which you registered. For example, if you register for New York, All Areas - your access is restricted to the state of New York. If you register for Brooklyn - your access is restricted to Brooklyn.

How can I get a discount code?

To get a 20% discount, use the link below to send an email to your University or Company distribution list or bulletin board. If you do not have access to such a list, you can send the email to 50 or more people receive the discount.

What if I do not have good credit?

One of the best reasons to use MetroLeases.com is if your credit is not so great. Since many of our rentals are sublets and by owner direct, the credit approval process is not as extensive. Many of our rentals do not even require a credit check. To see if a rental requires a credit check, go to the details page of the listing and see if the "Credit Check" field is selected.

What does "shared" & "private" mean?

  1. Shared means the apartment will shared with a roommate. For example, a share of a two bedroom with one bedroom available means, you have one bedroom and a roommate occupies the other bedroom. The common areas are generally shared.
  2. Private means you are renting your own apartment. There is NO roommate involved, the apartment is entirely yours.

How do I find my optimal rental?

Finding your optimal rental with MetroLeases.com is easy. The criteria that you select when you setting your search will guide you to the optimal rental. Remember, the more flexible you are in you search criteria, the more inventory you will have to chose from.
  1. Private or Share
        Share    -  for a roommate situation
        Private  - for your own apartment

  2. Lease Term
        Short Term             -   for rentals less than 6 months
        Long Term              -   for rentals greater than 6 months
        Both Short & Long -   if your lease term is flexible

  3. Rent per -
        MONTH - for rentals greater than one month up to two years
        WEEK   - for rentals less than 1 month and greater than one week
        DAY      - for rentals less than one week

Are availability dates and prices negotiable?

Since you are renting directly from the owners and lease holders, everything is usually negotiable.  Use the End Dates and Prices as a guide for your housing search and negotiate as you go. Property manager on our list tend to be less negotiable.

What is the reason to change my password?

Changing your password frequently adds another layer of security. The greater the likelihood that someone knows or can guess your password if you didn't change the password for a long time. If you think someone knows your password, change it immediately.

How do I save the listings that interest me?

Use SAVE field on the right of the search pages to select the listings that interest you.  After selecting your listings, click "Add to My Cityleases". These listings will then be saved in your "My Cityleases" page. To view your saved listings, click the "View My Cityleases" button at the bottom of the search pages or the "My Cityleases" link in the navigation bar at the tops of most pages. Saving listings from different areas and different search criteria will facilitate your housing search.
 

If you do not return to access your "My Cityleases" page for five days, your stored listings will be deleted. Only registered members can Store listings. Also, any rentals that are no longer available are also deleted from your listings.

Rebates from landlords

Rebate amounts differ for each listings and can range from $0 to $500. Each landlord has selected their own rebate amount and is expected to reduce the first rent payment by the this amount for all Cityleases.com members. Landlord rebates are another reason to use Cityleases.com to facilitate your rental process.
