Peninsula Overview
Rockaway
Peninsula is a area of Queens located at it southern
most point. The Rockaway Peninsula is comprised
of multiple areas all which border the Atlantic Ocean
or Jamaica Bay. The areas on the Rockaway Peninsula
are (in order from west to east) Breezy Point, Rockaway
Point, Neponsit, Belle Harbor, Holland, Hammel, Edgemere
and Far Rockaway.
-Breezy
Point is the west most of the areas and
was originally a camping ground, which later became
a resort community.
-Rockaway
Point is mostly beach area and is solely connect
by bridges. There is public transport to that can
connects to the main land of Queens, and served
as summer beach commute.
-Neponsit is in the center of the peninsula
and unlike the other communities it was developed
with intention to be a year around community rather
than a summer vacation spot.
-Belle Harbor which is just north of Neponsit,
also possess a year around community with nice single
family standing homes.
-Holland and Hammel were create as summer
resort communities and were named by the developer.
Edgemere was also create as resort community
and was given its name because of its location to
the nearby body of water.
-Far Rockaway is the most eastern of the communities
on the peninsula and is the most populated as well,
this community posses both close proximity
to nearby JFK airport and public transportation.
The
Rockaway Peninsula, serves as a number of communities
for resorts as well as year around living.
The Peninsula is fully connected by public transport
and has a commercial and shopping district as well.
Living here provides an excellent setting with a
laid back beach life style.

Rockaway Peninsula was originally
settled by eastern Native Americans. Today,
this area is home to many vacationers, airport personnel,
and city dwellers looking for a more laid back life
style.

garden complexes, resort cottages and single
family homes dominate the area. General rents
in the area includes studio from $700-$900, one
bedroom from $850-$1050, and two bedrooms from $1200-$1350.

Transportation & Commuting
Most commuting is done via
the New York City Subway, by the "A" train. The
"A" train can have you in Midtown in 55 minutes,
and in Downtown in 65 minutes. One can also
commute via Long Island Railroad. |
