Maspeth Overview
Maspeth,
Queens was named after a tribe of Indians that originally settler there. Newton and Maspeth creeks run through the area and at the time were as busy
with traffic as some major rivers in the United States. The busy creeks
brought industry and commerce to the area. Today, Maspeth remains industrial
with residential areas on various street of the neighborhood that are not
located near the water. Mostly, all the shopping and some of the commercial
building in the area are located on Grand Avenue.

Maspeth originally was inhabitant by the Maspat Indians who were driven from
their land by the settlers and English Quakers. Shortly after this Maspeth
became established was mostly in fluxed with German immigrants. Today,
this Maspeth see many immigrants from all over including Italian, Irish, Polish and Lithuanian
descent.

A short drive away
you can catch the New York City Subway's "M" train on Metropolitan Ave,
catching this train should have you in Midtown in 45 minutes and in
Downtown in 55 minutes.
