Woodhaven Overview
Woodhaven was settled in 1835 by John R. Pitkin and originally named Woodville.  A few years later Woodville was changed to Woodhaven to avoid confusion with another Woodville in upstate New York.  Woodhaven has the small town feel and an old rustic look, as most of the building here were built in the late 1800's.  Some of these old houses today are preserved historic landmarks.  All shopping and commerce is located on Woodhaven Boulevard and Jamaica and Atlantic avenues.

Woodhaven Residents & Culture
Woodhaven is home to mostly middle class suburban families.  Woodhaven is a cultural and historical area with many old  buildings and stores.  One of which is Neirs Tavern which in 1838 was a general store, that has been used as a watering hole at the time.  Neirs Tavern has also been used in scenes for the hit movie Goodfellas.

Woodhaven Residences & Rent
Most of the residences consists of attached and semi-attached colonial homes, with some fully-detached Victorians, and a few cooperative apartments.  General rents in the area for studio ranges from $650-$950, one bedroom from $900-$1250, two bedrooms from $1200-$1500, and three plus bedrooms from $1550-$2300.

Woodhaven Transportation & Commuting
