Columbia & Morningside Heights Residents & Culture
If you can imagine an Ivy League University with the largest city in the world as its campus, then you can
imagine what the Columbia University Area is like. Occupied by students, graduate students, and those who
could not separate themselves from University life; this area characterized by intellectual gathering spots
such as: bookstores, coffee shops, restaurants & local bars.
Columbia & Morningside Heights Transportation & Commuting
Despite what you might here from people that do not know New York City, Columbia and Morningside Heights
is a very safe and pleasant area. (I lived there for 3 years). While the rents in this area are not cheap,
the rent prices are a financial "gem in the rough" compared to the rental robbery of more sought after
downtown areas. You can find some great deals in this area.
Columbia & Morningside Heights Residences & Rents
Inner-city travel from Columbia and
Morningside Heights is as good as anywhere in New York City. The red line
subway (1 & 9) can take you anywhere in minutes. Traveling out
of New York City from Columbia and Morningside Heights is also easy since
you are closer to the George Washington Bridge (GWB) which can take you to
New Jersey, Connecticut, and other parts of New York. Taking the
subway or buses north to the GWB is not a
problem. |
