Oaks, Queens was once the home of William K Vanderbilt.
The Vanderbilt estate was later turned in to a golf
course which was then sold a development company.
Herein started the development of Glen Oaks after
World War II you could find many two story apartment
buildings and then later on began the development
of high rises.

Glen
Oaks population grew in the early 1900's as
German, Irish, Italian and Jewish immigrants settled
here with intention of raising their children in
a suburb. Today, Glen Oaks predominately middle
class neighborhood filled with newer immigrants
from Hispanic and Asian descent.

mostly consists of one and two-family homes in Spanish
and English Tudor styles.
General rents in the area include studios from $550-$700,
one bedrooms from $750-$950, or two bedrooms from
$1050-$1200.

Oaks you can catch the Long Island Rail Road, at
225th street and 141st road which should get you
to Penn Station in 35 minutes. |
