Howard Beach  Overview
Howard Beach is a neighborhood which like others in Queens surrounds the Jamaica Bay. Howard Beach has always been know as a small  town  fishing community. Howard Beach is home to lower rents than normal beach front property due to the planes taking off and landing at nearby JFK airport. In the north section of Howard beach is a large housing complex, called Lindenwood. Lindenwood is sometimes considered its own neighborhood, but is actually part of Howard Beach. Lindenwood is basically comprised of six story buildings and garden complexes. The main commercial industry and shopping is all located on Cross Bay Blvd. Howard Beach has had some bad press and was in the news in the 80's, but  is a decent place to reside if you can handle the noise of the planes.
