Middle Village Overview
Middle Village named for its location at the midpoint of the Williamsburg and Jamaica Turnpike (now Metropolitan Avenue).  Middle Village became home to a number of cemeteries, after cemeteries were banned from Manhattan.  Many flower shops, monument shops, and small hotels, started up to help the clientele of the cemetery business.  Today, Middle Village is mostly residential suburb with single and multi-family houses and very few if any high rise complexes.  Middle Village maintain its commercial focus with most shopping done at Metropolitan Avenue and the Metro Mall.

Middle Village Residents & Culture
Middle Village was mostly populated with German immigrants, more recently it has seen a large influx if immigrants from Yugoslavia and the Balkans territories.  Middle Village is filled with old landmarks, one of which is Niederstein's Restaurant which was built in 1865 and is still serving today.

Middle Village Residences & Rent
Most of the area's residences were constructed in the1920s.  There are mainly old Victorians, and single and multi-family homes.  General rents in the area for studio ranges from $600-$800, one bedroom form $800-$1050, two bedrooms from $1100-$1400, and three plus bedrooms from $1450-$1800.

Middle Village Transportation & Commuting
Commuting from Middle Village is done via the "M' train which stops at Metropolitan Avenue.  Once you are at the station you can be in Midtown in 35 minutes and Downtown in 45 minutes.
